Foothills Fibre is the Foothills County owned Fibre Optic Internet Service. It is currently providing internet and telephone to over 30 commercial businesses in the Highway 2A industrial corridor. The project was created in response to the businesses in that area coming to council many times over the years seeking help finding reliable internet.
Funding was found through the Municipal Stimulus Program grant which was launched by the province in response to the pandemic.
Now that Foothills Fibre is operational and a success, we plan to have ‘shovel’ ready expansion areas ready for when more grants funds are available. We have plans to expand the service to more businesses and provide residential internet, telephone and television services in the future.
