Fee Bylaw Amendment - Schedule I - Foothills Fire Department Rates and Fees
This public meeting has been scheduled to provide information on proposed amendments to the County's Fee Bylaw Schedule I, which outlines the rates and fees charged by Foothills Fire Department for services rendered.
Currently, the Fee Bylaw states that 'For Fire Services responses located on residential or agriculturally zoned land within the County for a fire not intentionally set by the occupant, or fires caused by an act of nature or vandalism, charges will be actual costs to a maximum of $1,500.00'. Council will be considering an increase to the billing cap for fire services to a maximum charge of $10,000.
A higher billing cap would provide Foothills County the ability to recoup some of the actual costs that are incurred through delivery of fire services to County residents. In most instances, the actual cost to the County far exceeds the current billing cap of $1,500.00.
Most insurance policies have provisions that would aid in the recovery costs associated with a response from the Fire Department. Foothills County recommends that ratepayers have in depth discussions with their insurance agents regarding coverage for insurable losses and any other pertinent considerations within their individual insurance policies.
Council encourages residents to attend this meeting and provide their input to the proposed changes to the billing cap.
