Stormwater Management

Stormwater Design

MDP2010 has the following guidance with respect to stormwater management:

Development impacts drainage patterns; stormwater management tries to manage these impacts. Comprehensively planned development, using master drainage plans and best practices management, can control stormwater and erosion. Regardless of the scale of development, drainage plans will be required in order to mitigate the impact. Preservation of critical water features such as wetlands and riparian areas shall be part of drainage plans. The County supports integrated watershed management plans which address water quality, such as the Bow Basin Watershed Management Plan.

Stormwater management that utilizes the principles of low impact development are encouraged in the MD. Stormwater harvesting for irrigation or other non-potable uses, integrating stormwater management facilities with vegetation groupings to achieve landscapes that do not require irrigation systems, and using porous surfaces to allow infiltration will all be encouraged.
