Potential for Mail Disruption

Foothills County is facing a major disruption to our usual mail delivery services due to the national strike announced by the Canadian Union of Postal Worker on September 25th, 2025.

To minimize the impact on our community and maintain services, we have put in place
several online methods for communication and delivery.

2025 Combined Assessment and Tax Notices: During a postal strike, residents remain responsible for paying their bills, even if they do not receive a physical copy in the mail.
Taxes may be paid by online or telephone banking, through Virtual County Hall, at a financial institution, in-person at the County Office or through the after hours mail slot (cheques only). To view and pay your property tax roll and, where applicable, utility account, log into Virtual County Hall. For more information on how to set up your account visit Virtual County Hall Information | Foothills County  If you have any questions, please call (403) 652-2341 or visit 2025 Assessment and Tax Notices | Foothills County

Development Permit Notices: Disruption of Development Permit Notice of Decisions to neighbours and stakeholders. During the strike, the County will not be direct mailing notices of development permit decisions. Stay informed by checking for Development Permit decisions in the Western Wheel and on the County's website at Development Permit Notices | Foothills County. Development Permit application files can be viewed at the County Office and questions can be directed to the Planning department at planning@foothillscountyab.ca or (403) 652-2341.

Upcoming Public Hearings in Council: Disruption of Notices for Public Hearings and Meetings to neighbors and stakeholders. During the strike, the County will only be sending Public Hearing and Meeting Notices to landowners who are adjacent to the parcel that is subject of the hearing or meeting. Notification of all upcoming Public Hearings and Meetings can be found in the Western Wheel and on the County's website at Upcoming Hearings in Council | Foothills County. Application files subject to a Public Hearing or Meeting can be viewed at the County Office and questions can be directed to the Planning department at planning@foothillscountyab.ca or (403) 652-2341.

Other Services: During this time, we recommend visiting the Foothills County website at www.foothillscountyab.ca to access our online information.
