Voter Eligibility

You are eligible to vote if you can provide authorized identification which shows that you are:

  • At least 18 years old, and
  • A Canadian citizen, and
  • A resident of Foothills County on Election Day, and
  • Show proper identification (as outlined below)
Voter ID
  • In order to vote, you must produce identification for inspection as required by Section 53(1) of the LAEA.

    A voter will not know if they are on the Permanent Elector Register (PER) until they arrive at the voting station. Just in case you are not on the PER please bring:

    One (1) piece of government-issued identification that contains your photograph, full name AND your current address, such as:

    •Alberta Driver’s License
    •Alberta Identification Card

    If you do not have government-issued ID, showing your current address you will need to show one (1) piece of identification which must contain your full name AND current address.

    Approved identification must show the name and address of the elector. Some examples of appropriate ID include:

    •Bank/Credit card statement or personal cheque
    •Correspondence issued by a school, college or university
    •Government cheque or cheque stub
    •Income/property tax assessment notice or evaluation notice
    •Insurance policy or coverage card
    •Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee
    •One of the following, issued by the responsible authority of a shelter or soup kitchen: attestation of residence, letter of stay, admission form or statement of benefits
    •Pension Plan statement of benefits
    •Residential lease or mortgage statement
    •Statement of government benefits (employment insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support or child tax benefit)
    •Utility bill (telephone, public utilities commission, television, hydro, gas or water)
    •Vehicle ownership or registration certificate

  • Tuesday, October 7 - 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 9 - 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 16 - 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
