Highway 2 Temporary Median Closures - 306 Ave, 338 Ave, 370 Ave

Foothills County

Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors' planned upgrades to Highway 2, between North of the Sheep River and the Hwy 2A/552 Interchange, are scheduled for construction beginning April 29, 2024.

Construction will begin at Highway 2 and 306 Avenue, and will progress south to each intersection in sequence. Work is anticipated to span 10 – 15 days at each intersection.

The primary focus will be pavement rehabilitation of the southbound lanes, as well as the following interim solutions to improve safety and operation at the intersection sites:

  • Construction of Median Accelerations in the northbound direction at each site.
  • Improvement to the existing ancillary lanes to align with current ATEC standards.
  • Replacement of faded, obsolete, and incorrect signage. New signage will also be installed to heighten motorist awareness approaching the intersections.
  • Inclusion of highway street lighting at each site.

The project is estimated to conclude by July 15, subject to weather delays.
