Foothills County
On July 9, 2025, the Provincial government issued an Order in Council amending the Exemption Regulation of the Municipal Government Act. This order stipulates that Part 17 of the Municipal Government Act, which governs planning and development regulations throughout the province, will not apply to the construction of the biodigester facility situated on lands described as NW 5-19-29-W4 and NE 6-19-29-W4, in Foothills County.
As a result, Rimrock Renewables has received Provincial approval to proceed without further Land Use or Development Permit approvals from Foothills County.
