What Went on Last Week

On May 5, 2021, Foothills County RCMP (Okotoks) assisted a CPO with an inspection of a rural property on 80 Street East within the County, due to an inspection order issued by the CPO.  Subsequent to this property inspection, and in conjunction with the K Division Auto theft section, a police search warrant for the property was obtained and executed. This matter is still under investigation.

Construction along HWY 22 continues between Black Diamond and Longview, with single-lane travel at various points.  Foothills County RCMP (Turner Valley) want to remind everyone to follow all directions given by flag persons on location and to follow all speed signs, failing to do so could result in violation ticket being issued.

Q & A With S/SGT Laura Akitt

I just wanted to remind everyone that May is Canada Census month and people can expect to have Canada Census employee’s within your neighbourhoods. Employees will have an identification card, which features the Statistics Canada identifier, with their name, employment number and photo. If you are unsure of a census employee’s identify the public can contact the Census Help Line at 1-855-340-2021.

As the weather starts to improve and we start spending more time outside and away from home, I wanted to touch on a few crime prevention tips. Prior to leaving your property ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are your front, back, and garage doors locked?
  • Are your outbuildings and sheds locked?
  • Is your alarm system and motion lights active, and is it obvious when your not home?

Following these simple rules has proven to discourage crime and promote security. Also, if you see anything that looks suspicious please report this to the RCMP. Your information lets us know where to look and what to look for during future patrols.

If anyone has a questions of a policing nature, please to do not hesitate to reach out to me at the below noted e-mail address.
