Share Our Stories Project
The Town of Okotoks, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Foothills County and Longview, will begin sharing stories received as part of Project SOS: Share Our Stories starting Wednesday, March 10.
Project SOS is a writing opportunity for seniors to share their stories of resiliency and how they got through a difficult time in their lives.
New stories will continue to be shared every Wednesday. The stories will be collected into a printed anthology at the conclusion of the project in June 2021.
Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is leading the project and will continue to accept stories until May 31, 2021. Stories can be handwritten, typed or told vocally through video. Photographs are encouraged to be submitted.
Writing kits can be picked up at the Okotoks Public Library, Village of Longview Library or the Sheep River Library in Turner Valley. Anyone who cannot get to the library for a kit can contact the Town of Okotoks at 403-995-2626, who can arrange to have one delivered.
The kits include pens and paper, writing prompts and ways to self-motivate.
